How Often Should You Review and Update Your Estate Plan
February 27, 2023
The following are circumstances which typically warrant a review, as updates may be necessary:
- Move to New State
- Divorce
- Marriage
- Family Births or Deaths
- Serious Illness
- Change in Personal Financial Status (e.g., sale of business, inheritance, lawsuit settlement)
- Change in Law
In general, we recommend a review of your estate plan with your estate planning attorney every 3-5 years, unless changes in circumstances such as those listed above warrant earlier review.
